If I had a million dollars...

If I had a million dollars,
I'd pay somone to punch my mortgage broker in the face.

More details later, but long story short, our mortgage broker may very well cost us this condo. And if that's the case, well, hell hath no fury like Brent and Nanette scorned. We'll know more tomorrow.

On a lighter note, Brent and I just got back from the Bare Naked Ladies concert. Very fun. :) (Although Shelby was unable to attend, she was there in spirit!)

And I just got this pic, which was taken when Stacie and I met Maroon 5 at a meet-n-greet a few weeks ago. Fun, huh? :)

happy, happy, joy, joy

I'm so excited about moving into our new place that I think I could easily explode. I'm so excited that even the initial cleaning before we start moving our stuff in sounds fun. And if I think about stringing some lights on our patio, choosing a bed for the guest room and what shades of towels I want, I think I'll burst.

Brent and I went furniture shopping this weekend and remarkably, we're still together despite the tension of trying to agree on shades of wood, paint colors and fabric versus leather. I think we've come to a calm agreement for our future decorating endeavors. We checked out a bunch of different places this weekend: Levitz, Ikea, Restoration Hardware, and our personal favorite: Hotel Surplus Outlet. I'm kidding about loving that last one. It was AWFUL! It had an ax-murder-"go-on-without-me"-RUN!-RUN! vibe. Very scary, even at 1 in the afternoon.

I'll be the first to admit that I love shopping for clothes. But ever since Brent and I found this condo, I've shifted my focus on household items. Instead of hanging out in the Target's shoe department, I find myself in the housewares, kitchen and bath section. It's kinda weird being an adult, but lots of crazy fun. :)

Low point of the day: My hair was a little frizzy.
High point of the day: We did a presentation to one of our clients, and afterwards our firm's president told my boss that the team did great, but that "Nanette was fantastic!" Yay!

Condo pictures

Below are some pics from our condo, which we took yesterday during the inspection. They're not in any distinct order and they're decorated with the current owner's items, but I just had to share. :)

(Insert witty title here)

Greetings!

Below are some pictures from my recent concert binge. I'll post more soon.  We met Maroon 5 at last night's show and should be getting our pic with the band via e-mail.

Anyhow, we had a really great time. We were in the "pit" for the Marysville show, so we were really close to the stage. Last night we were basically in the 8th row, stadium seating. I think Stacie, Jen and I had definite "moments" via eye contact with the Maroon 5 and John, especially. ;) I kid, kind of.

Brent and I are both getting very excited about decorating the condo. I think we've decided on a color pallette for the living room, but have not yet decided on the rest of the rooms. The living room and kitchen walls need to stay white because of the vaulted ceilings (too hard to paint), but we plan to incorporate color in other ways. Stay tuned. :)

I found a new Web site today with some cool stuff. Definitely check it out. Oh, another cool site is here.  Don't know if Brent and I can agree on anything from there for our condo, but I'd certainly love to try.

I don't want to go to work tomorrow. Anyone want to volunteer to go in for me?

Low point of the day: It was kinda humid today.

High point of the day: Hanging out with Stacie before she left today. Thanks for visiting!

Gotta run

I've got a tons of stuff to do before heading out to the airport for a flight to Sac. Gonna see John Mayer and Maroon 5 tonight. Yay!

Anyhow, the latest is that Brent and I made an offer and it was accepted! We couldn't be happier, although Brent keeps threatening to vomit. He'd be like that with any place we bought, though.

Last night after work I drove by and just parked outside the complex for a minute. I just sat there, enjoying the neighborhood. A nearby building has white christmas lights in their bushes and it's very cute. The front of our building was a bit lit from the hallway lighting, giving it a subtle glow. I didn't want to stay too long because my license plate has my name on it and I'd hate for the guy we're buying it from to see me and decide not to sell it to us because we're stalking the place. Just me being paranoid. :)

Ok, gotta get back to work and finish packing for me trip! Yay!

Quickie

I'll make this fast because I have a lot to do today, but I wanted to make a request for all two of you readers (you know who you are!) to start praying to the house gods for us because Brent and I made an offer on the condo I talked about below!!! Our offer is being presented today, so by the end of today we may very well know:

1) Our offer is being accepted
2) We're getting countered
3) We're losers and they are insulted by our offer

Because this place is soooo lovable, there are at least 3 other offers for "well above" the asking price. Booo! But we've made a good offer to keep us in the "game," as my realtor says. We had to write a letter to accompany the offer, telling the seller about ourselves, our hopes, our dreams, our aspirations, our shoe size. And because Brent and I get paid to persuade people with our writing, we're hoping our letter will convince the seller to choose us. :)

More details later...

Go Nanette! It's your birthday!

Yesterday was my 27th birthday and Brent made it an absolute dream by giving me this!!!!!!!!!!!

My bike! Click for larger photo Posted by Hello

Isn't it fabulous?!?!?! It includes: distinctive Julius Red paint and graphics, front and rear pin striped fenders, coordinated accent color components, "I Love My Bike" bell and a custom cargo basket. And because Brent didn't have a bike and I don't want to ride around by myself, we bought him a bike to celebrate his birthday early (August 3), so now we can ride together! I tried to talk him into the boy's Paul Frank bikes (See the bottom two bikes here: http://www.nirve.com/main/paulfrank.asp but he wasn't having it. I had a choice between two bikes: the one I got and the pink Paul Frank bike. I liked the pink one, but it had a skull and cross bones rather than Julius the Monkey. I'm very happy with my choice. :) There's apparently a bike trail that goes from Culver City all the way down to Venice Beach. Maybe we'll try that next Sunday.

After we got Brent's bike today, we scoped out a bunch of open houses. We found one that we are in "strong like" with in Santa Monica. Very, very cute and charming, but Brent thinks it's a tad small. We're going to look at it again tomorrow with our realtor to see what he thinks in terms of value. It's two bedrooms, one bath, a cute balcony, vaulted ceilings, really cool open kitchen, cute view and only seven units. I can see us living there, biking down to the beach, having friends over for dinner. Soooo cute! Wish us luck. :)

Short but sweet

As an update to my last entry, I DID make it to spinning, but was too pooped for yoga. Maybe next week I can find the energy to make it through both. I just got back from hip hop and it was fun, as always. I'm realizing that it may be difficult to make it to the gym as often as I'd like while Brent and I are condo shopping, but I'll try my best to make it there.

Last night's show at HOB Sunset Strip was tons of fun! I'm not sure if I'm going to attempt to attend the Saturday performance in Santa Monica or not because I have a feeling it's going to be mobbed since it's a free-for-all. I'd rather not spend my birthday weeding through a mob, but we'll see - after all, it IS for Gavin. His latest song was #2 on the countdown of a radio station tonight, so I'm a little sad that I can't keep him as my best-kept secret. Oh, well. :)

Low point of the day: I'm SWAMPED at work! Absolutely SWAMPED!
High point of the day: Catching up with an old friend :) I highly recommend you do the same thing. It's like taking a time machine.

Rants & Raves

Gavin at meet & greet table Posted by Hello

Saturday night's concert with Marc Broussard and Gavin Degraw was rockin! I had a great time, especially with Tori. This was my second time seeing Marc and he just grooved like tomorrow was 2099. And Gavin....well, Gavin was fabulous as always. Tori and I had some great luck with our view - we were at the top of the step near the bar on the right side of the stage, so we were probably 15 feet from Gavin - great view!

I do, however, have a couple pet peeves about my fellow concert goers that I'd like to point out. They didn't ruin my experience at all, but they were still irk'some nonetheless.

- Crazy drunk girls who kept screaming at the top of their lungs with blood-curdling yowls...while we were waiting for Gavin to start. He wasn't even on the stage yet! And it turns out that two of these four girls were actually right in front of me when I saw Gavin at the Independent in SF a few months back. One of them was a 6' blond who insisted on taking lots of pictures of Gavin in SF, hence blocking my view for a lot of the show. How is it that I always get stuck behind the Amazon women with the Marge Simpson hair-dos? Why????

- Old drunk ladies who insist on cutting to the front of Gavin's meet-and-greet line to get Gavin to sign their "titty" or "ass." Seriously, if you're pushing 40 and you're hanging out at these concerts, asking for the headliner to sign a part of your anatomy, that's just sad. SAD! Yes, I know I'm pushing 30 and probably older than most at these concerts, but I'm not subjecting them to beer breath and demands to move over so I can throw myself at the singer. Class, people, class.

Again, I had a blast at the show and am looking forward to tomorrow night's show at HOB Sunset Strip.

Last night Brent and I went to the top of a Culver City parking garage to enjoy a 360 degree view of Southern Cali's numerous fireworks shows. It was such a cool site! At one time I counted at least 13 different fireworks shows! Nearly all of the eastern horizon was covered at one point, and then the nearby Culver City High School show started. I was joking with Brent that next year we should rent a helicopter and just fly above the city. Then I started thinking about the great view my dad must have from his point of view. I can say that 4th of July was one of my dad's fav. holidays. He used to go nuts and buy tons of fireworks. And the past couple of year's before he got sick, he really liked volunteering at the Amvets fireworks booth. He was such a great man, and I'm going to change the topic before I start crying...

I'm happy to have today off from work. This morning we woke up at almost 11 a.m., which was a good and bad thing - good because if I were working, I'd be getting ready to pick a place for lunch, bad because a lot of the day had already passed us by. I took a quick trip to the nearby Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a dulce de leche blended (yum) and then 7-11 for some cheesey mags to read by the pool (US Weekly and Allure). I spent a couple hours by the pool, soaking up some much-needed rays (wearing sunscreen, of course). That's the bad thing about a full-time, 9-5 job - sunlight becomes a luxury.

I've been lacking in the gym department lately. I think I've been in a subconscious mourning period since I had to break up with my trainer. I'm going to get serious again, starting today. I just discovered that my gym has added an 8 p.m. spin class on Monday and Wednesday nights. I always have a hard time making it to the 6:45 class, so this will make things much easier at least on Mondays. I'm a faithful hip-hop class goer on Wednesdays at 8, so I won't be making that class. I'm going to try the later class tonight, and if I'm up to it, yoga at 9. I don't know if that's ambitious or suicidal. :)

Low point of the day: Um, today's been a good day thus far, so no low point to report!
High point of the day: A couple hours by the pool.

Banana Billboard

Garfield Posted by Hello

I'm not an opponent of product placement, but the other day I stumbled across the craziest advertising space ever - a banana! The sticker above, which I couldn't get a really clear picture of, was on my banana peel. The sticker says, "See Garfield The Movie." Chiquita sold herself out for a piss-poor movie! What's next? Ads for Apple iPods on my apples?

Brent and I found ourselves a realtor today! (Thanks, Josh & Jami!) It's a nice feeling to know we have an expert on our side. Hopefully, we'll soon have an over-priced condo to call our own!

And can I get a "hell ya" for a three-day weekend? Too bad Brent's getting over bronchitis. Actually, that is good timing because tomorrow I'm going with Tori to see Gavin at HOB Anaheim. The concert season begins early! And I just found out that Gavin is going to be performing at an in-store appearance in LA on July 10th, my birthday. Think I can get him to sing Happy Birthday to me a la Marilyn Monroe?
