I keep having nightmares that I'm trying on clothes (bathing suits and bridal gowns, specifically) and the sales people keep telling me I'm too fat. I think it's my subconscious telling me it's time to get on track and get back to the gym. My subconscious is right. Damn.
"I rode the exercise bike this morning for an hour and a half. If it was a real bicycle I would have been in Belgium by now." C.J. Cregg, The West Wing

Naaaah, c'mon! Subconscious uses to be a little more elaborate than that, it always takes the long way: its language is more recherché, it doesn't say like straightness. Check my dreams, for example. If the only way for your subconscious to say you're too fat is by using clerks in malls that say you're too fat, the real meaning of the whole things is that you watch too much television.
ReplyDeleteJust to warn ya ... no matter what size you are (small or big), when you go to try on wedding dresses, you will most likely feel like a complete cow. Apparently, the wedding dress industry runs really small ... so prepare to try on dresses that are two sizes bigger than you really are. Oh, how I loved that experience. You'd think they'd get their act together and make them true to size or even big so the bride feels good about herself!
ReplyDeleteThose clerks sound like assholes. You know what's better? Lucid dreams. That way, you could grab their hand and it would turn into a fire hydrant or something. Rock.
ReplyDelete1. You are not fat.
ReplyDelete2. You are going to look amazingly gorgeous on your wedding day.
3. You are going to FEEL amazingly gorgeous on your wedding day.
4. That said, for anyone over a size 8, trying on wedding dresses is more than a little frustrating. It's such a delight to wriggle into a dress, slip on the sleeves, and have someone hold the back together partway so you can get "an idea" of what it might look like in the right size. Which will be at least two sizes bigger than your usual size.
5. Dreams aren't always that literal. You're probably just stressed! Maybe you need a massage... Or a yoga class...

Awww....you all are too encouraging. Thanks for all the advice.
ReplyDeleteHowever, whether my subconscious was telling me something or not, I DID make it to the gym last night for the first time in a while. Hopefully it's the start of something good!
