I'm With The DJ

We FINALLY decided on a dj! He came highly recommended, is by far the most reasonably priced and is very low key, which is exactly what we want. It's like a musical weight has been lifted off my shoulders. And now we're on to the dress and then the cake! If we do the cake first, it may impact my dress, if ya know what I mean. We're also scheduling our engagement photos for next month.

On the way home tonight, I witnessed another homeless battle while I was at a stoplight. Two homeless guys sat on a bus stop bench. One was eating Chinese takeout. He handed some to his homeless friend. And then he started grabbing food and throwing it at his friend! His friend got up, staring at him in disbelief. The guy didn't look like he was throwing it in fun - he looked pissed! Then, as quickly as he started, he stopped. His friend sat down as if nothing happened. What a strange breakdown while breaking bread.

Did anyone catch "Tommy Lee Goes To College" tonight? I was laughing out loud. It's a lot more entertaining than I expected. It kinda made me miss college...for a second. And it made me miss all my years in band. I can tell ya that it would be difficult for many professional musicians (who don't read music and haven't had any marching training) to come into a band at a big university like that with ease. This show definitely makes my TiVo season pass list.

  1. You know, I used to pretend to be a DJ. I used to mix records in a bar and called myself Sex on the Decks! My name had a great reputation and soon people all over town heard of me and thought I was a great DJ, when in reality I only spun..like twice!

  2. you're right about the cake and the dress; i couldn't decide on anything until i had (in this order): venue, dress, suit, attendants' garb, cake, food, music, décor. congrats on another checkmark!

  3. Does the cake have to have a little figurine of you 2 on top? 'cause I'd say do the dress first, so you know what that figurine of you will have to look like.

  4. I was at a wedding the other weekend and I must say, someone capable in the DJ department is key. This was a nice affair (they even had a mariachi band), but for post-dinner dancing there was only a lousy laptop with a less than stellar playlist on itunes. The lack of groovable tunes certainly caused the drunk masses to exit hastily. Then again, maybe that's what they were hoping for.

  5. Michael - It's not the dress on the figurine I'm worried about - it's the SIZE of the figurine I'm worried about. :)

Charlie - You are SOOO right! We've seen some wacky djs in action at weddings and have learned exactly what we DON'T want. Plus, I'm a big fan of dancing, so I want to make sure there's plenty of it at our wedding.

  6. I was pleasantly surprised by 'tommy lee...' too, but I'm torn on whether I should continue watching just on principle - It's not even real reality!! Wish they'd just let him enroll. Sheesh.
