Frazzle dazzle

I'm feeling like a crazy person right about now.

Let me back up.

This morning I thought I had a flat tire. A nearby tire place determined it was loose lug nuts. Long story short, my mechanic, who last had my car just a few days ago, wants me to bring it back in because something ain't right. And he told me to be careful driving between now and then.

Tonight I was supposed to go to my first Yelp elite event - a special event just for folks who have the distinction of being frequent contributors. I skipped the gym because I did another mega-workout last night, and saw some pretty awful traffic on my way home that I'd have to battle to get to the event. Then I accidentally pissed off another driver as I pulled into my neighborhood and got paranoid at the thought of him following me. I thought I saw his car pull onto my street shortly after I did, so I started driving around the neighborhood instead of pulling into our condo complex. (Seriously, I was probably just being paranoid, but better safe than sorry, right?) And of course as I weaved through the streets of my 'hood, I nearly pulled in front of another car.

I arrived home, totally frazzled, freakin' out about having to battle traffic and fears of my car breaking down and being stalked by a lynch mob of angry drivers. So I decided to stay home instead of venturing out. I threw myself into piles of dirty laundry, cleaned up our bedroom, did the dishes, cleaned off counters - everything I could to shake the sense of frustration that had built up. I'm feeling much better now, especially as Brent promised to bring the party to me.

Thank god tomorrow is Friday.

"Don’t go out tonight. The girls will eat you up. They bark and they bite. And their boyfriends beat you up. You’re tough enough. To take it all in stride. So please just stay inside." - Julian Velard, Little Demons

  1. OMG I thought I was the only one who kept on driving around the block when I po' other drivers and think they're following me. I'm a serial thumbs up giver instead of flipping the bird. I think its much more effective..

I'm sure they'll have more Yelp elite events coming up soon!

  2. I'm sorry you had a rough day. I know how that traffic can be, and these days you can't be too careful. People do crazy things sometimes. I saw a funny bumper sticker that said " Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean you're not following me" lol I hope your Friday is fantastic.

  4. OMG! I've totally had someone follow me as I pulled into my neighborhood. It was the middle of the night and I noticed that this car seemed to be following me, so I started speeding and taking all of these crazy turns and the guy kept up. I finally pulled over and the guy pulled next to me, startled, and said, "I am SOOOO sorry! I thought you were someone else. Man, you must have been freaking out, huh?"

  5. I am reminded of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine tells Jerry that a pack of wild teenagers followed her and George. Then after all the craziness she tells him the car is making a weird noise but he doesn't care so much. I totally didn't think about your weird car stuff after the "lynch mob of angry drivers" part. I'm glad you're OK and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

  6. I always drive around the neighborhood if I think someone is following me! You're SO not alone in this! I have to ask...where in the world do you get those amazing quotes at the end of each post that fit perfectly with what you just wrote about? I love that! And yes, THANK GOD it's Friday. I've had a very rough week myself.
