Tag along

Jenn tagged me for a meme.

Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog.

Here are mine:
1. I don't have a specific fashion style these days. Yesterday I wore a black dress with a long string of pearls. Today I wore camo pants and a hoodie. It's fun to spice it up a bit.
2. Growing up, my mom put my brother's name on MY birthday cake and vice versa. It'd say, "Happy Birthday Nanette, Love Christopher" I doubt this is some Filipino tradition. I think she's just a bit wacky.
3. While some gals (including many whom I know and love) are really into designer handbags, my most expensive bag was $100. I'm not saying either habit is better or worse, I'm just in awe of those who are willing to spring that much on accessories.
4. Maybe concerts are my expensive handbags. And I'd rather spend my money to see my favorite artists multiple times (like John Mayer this weekend - TWICE!) than expand my concert horizons and see someone new. Sad, but true.
5. I never drank coffee until a couple of years ago. Then I found myself drinking it every day. But I started having stomach aches more frequently and I wasn't sleeping well, so I gave up ALL caffeine (including Coke Zero) last month. I've had a couple cups of coffee since then, and they wreaked havoc on my stomach. Caffeine and I are officially broken up.
6. For breakfast I almost always have Shredded Wheat with cinnamon and Splenda or egg whites with a little cheddar cheese and sometimes one piece of wheat toast.
7. For my upcoming 30th (yikes!) birthday, I unintentionally asked for vanity-related gifts: a new flat iron (got it early from my mom last month), gift certificates for facials at Dermalogica and perhaps some personal training sessions. Looks like I don't want to grow old gracefully.

The 7 folks I'm tagging are: Wilikat, Weezer Monkey, Julie Q, Shannon, Jolene, R and Twinkie.

Are you Filipino? A good friend of mine just had a baby with a Filipino man, so I'm suddenly very interested in the culture.

  3. I relate to #3 and #4 completely! I nearly fainted when I heard a friend talking about the bag she bought for her husband (it was a tiny purse!) that was $1400!!!

  6. I once bought a $200 Kate Spade bag and then returned it the next day because of guilt. Then in London I bought a DKNY bag for equivalent of $400 and left it there!! I told my MIL to trash it. What am I?? NUTS??

Well ... my mom would put my name and my brother's names on the christmas gifts and exclude hers when we gave gifts to other family members. but she never did the cake thing! so maybe it is a filipino thing somehow .... but still weird.
