Thanks for all the kind comments in my previous post. Your words meant a lot to me and touched me deeply. Wednesday turned out to be a very good day filled with good things. I joked that my dad was looking out for Brent and I.
And that evening I noticed that a framed photo I have of my dad, probably the last one we took of him, had shifted its placement a bit on the shelf it sits on in our living room. It's probably nothing at all and something that could have been caused by our typical moving around the condo, but I'd like to think it's something a little more ethereal than that.
In other news, our friends Nicole, Matt, Mary and Mark sent Brent his birthday present yesterday. He is now the proud owner of this lovely painting. Not only did he receive the painting, but it arrived in a lovely (or as Brent described, "over the top") gold frame. I had been warned by our friends ahead of time that I may not want Brent to bring it home, so its home is Brent's office for now. I told him he could put in our guest room, but he might get the most joy out of it there. He agreed. I'm excited to see it in person for myself, though.
Brent and I have been busy finalizing our Italy plans. Only nine more days till we hit the road! This is the first time that Brent and I have really been out of the country together (a day trip to Tijuana doesn't count) and the first time that either of us have been to Italy. I'm so excited about the sites and the food and the people and the shopping and the relaxing and the... EVERYTHING! I'm part Italian and can't wait to see where my "people" came from and how they live present-day. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

ReplyDeleteYou're not gonna want to leave Italy. Don't do tours, it's so much more fun discovering Italy on your own or with the help of locals.

ReplyDeletemy parents were in Italy early this summer, and they loved it! my mom said when you order water, they asked if you wanted gas or no gas basically - do you want a bottle of Arrowhead or Perrier? lol
