I'm getting loose ends taken care of before we leave for our vacation. One of the biggest things will be, as Brent termed, my "come to Jesus" with TiVo. I have to make sure I set it for all my existing favorites and the premieres of new shows that I'm interested in and that nothing will be missed while we're gone. I'll have to reevaluate my season passes and determine my priorities. Man, I wish I had two or three TiVos, like a friend of ours. Then again, she works for TiVo and has televisions and TiVos IN HER CUBE. How awesome is that???
Lucky for me I have this cheat sheet of premieres. It'll make things much easier.
I'm already quite into:
- Biggest Loser - I was inspired by the show while working out this week, thinking how awesome it is that they're able to make such wonderful transformations.
- Beauty and the Geek - I got into this last season, but this season looks even better. They're throwing in a beauty guy and a geeky girl!
I'm sad that I'll be missing The Office premiere, but I'm sure it'll be just as thrilling when I return.
I put our mail on hold, which was too freakin' easy thanks to this link that Shelby posted a while back. And I called my bank today to give them a heads-up that I'd be traveling overseas.
I've also been cramming for our trip by listening to the Drive & Learn Italian CDs, which teaches Italian phrases via songs. It's similar to the learning techniques used on Sesame Street. How else would I know the difference between near and far? So I've been running around the office and our place singing in Italian. I'll have to stop myself from singing the phrases to the Italian shop keepers and restaurateurs.
Three days left! Wheeeeeee!
"There are four kinds of business. Tourism. Food service. Railroads. And sales. And hospitals/manufacturing. And air travel." - Michael, The Office

To learn Italian, I just sit in the bathroom of Buca di Beppo.
ReplyDeleteHave a blast! Drink some wine for me on my birthday! I have 2 Tivos if you need some help recording stuff, although I think we watch a lot of different shows.
ReplyDeleteThose shows are great! And thanks for the link about the premieres, I always missed the first episodes due to lack of planning. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also a slave to my DVR.
I just hang out in the bathroom at Macaroni Grill for some italian lessons. No better time to learn right? lol I hope your trip is awesome.
ReplyDeleteYep, I've been preparing my fall season spreadsheet. lol!
ReplyDeleteYou'all are going to have so much fun. I've always wanted to go to Italy and I can't wait to hear about it and see your photos.
ah, you're going to have so much fun!
ReplyDeletei hope your success with using that USPS link works better than mine. i used it for our recent trip and they never stopped our mail. i came back to a mailbox that was completely overflowing. ugh. if you have time, it might be worth it to actually go in and do the hold request in person. :(
So. JEALOUS. Have a fab-u-lous time! So excited for you!!! I can't wait to read the stories on your blog when you're back. And thank you for the link on the premieres...so cool! it helps so much!
ReplyDeletehave fun!!! you are so on top of it. i did none of the above before our last vacation and came back to chaos.
ReplyDeleteYou are more grown up than I will ever be. I admire your planning. Truly unfortunate that you will miss The Office...
ReplyDeletetake me with you!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteandiamo
Can't wait to hear all about your Italian adventures when you come home! I'm sure they'll love being sung to! :)
ReplyDeletewoohoo! i can't believe your trip is already here! you will have so much fun - i can't wait to see pictures :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fall cheat sheet. I was looking for something like that the other day. Wow, Italy....I'm not really that interested in going to too many places in Europe, but Italy (along with Ireland) are definitely on my someday list. Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to alert your credit card company too. They put a freeze on us for the honeymoon because we forgot to tell them. I promise not to talk about the Office with you when you get back until you've seen it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have THE BEST TIME EVAH!
Nanette,
ReplyDeleteI know it's a little late, but there's a new website that has free on-line language lessons, including Italian. I haven't tried it but the site says that each language has about 100 lessons available. You may want to try it. The website is:
www.trymango.com
So jealous . . . you're gonna have so much fun in Italy!
ReplyDeleteDon't stress...If you need any copies of any shows I will help you out. Don't let tv ruin your trip, believe me I know the feeling.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip.
Maybe, just maybe The Office premier will available in Italy??? Maybe even translated into Italian too?
ReplyDeleteI think my sister commented right before me. I didn't know she finally stopped lurking.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, like Amber, I wish you luck with that USPS link. I also came home to an overflowing mailbox. I hate the post office.
Have an awesome time in Italy, and please remember every detail about everything you eat! So jealous!
Looking forward to stories about and pictures of your trip. Have an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more exhilarating than the stress of preparing for a trip. Can't wait o read about your Italian adventure!!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome time in Italy! Can't wait to see the pics :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness can I go work for TIVO? Have fun on your trip. I'm so jelly ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so JEALOUS!!! In case you don't post before you leave, have a safe trip and I can't wait to get a full report...or maybe the highlights...and take a lot of pics. And eat a ton of great food. LUCKY!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Beauty & the Geek!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say have a great time. Italy is a great place to relax. Enjoy and drink lots of vino. Ci vediamo!
ReplyDeleteIf you're that invested in catching up on shows when you get back, make sure that SOMEBODY comes to check on your TiVo every few days. More than once we've gone away on vacation and found ourselves showless because the cable went out for a minute when we were gone and neither the cable box nor TiVo ever recovered.
ReplyDeleteOh, and don't forget to turn down the water heater, turn off the toilets, etc. Another hard-learned lesson I'd like to spare you.
grover was my favorite sesame street character; scratch that, he still is. and i always say that about near and far. . . another weird connection.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in Italy!!!
