Oh, and I think I may have overdone it at the gym today as my arms are so shaky, it's hard to type!
Last night Brent and I went to our first (and unfortunately, last) screening of the year at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. We didn't go at all last year because we didn't want to battle all the crowds now that the events are insanely popular, but we braved it last night to picnic under the stars. We ran into our friends, Bree and Leif, which was a very nice surprise! We would have loved to have shared a blanket if we hadn't been in the chairs section. (They were sans chairs.) Either way, I'm sad we couldn't make it work last night but we'll give it another try next year.
The movie they screened was "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" starring Joan Crawford and Betty Davis. Quite an interesting film, although Brent almost fell asleep at one point. My boss warned me that it was very campy and that we'd be laughing a lot (not at the delight of the film makers, I'm sure). She was right. I'm not familiar with either of the stars' works, although I've seen the Joan Crawford biography "Mommie Dearest" a gazillion times.
It was another nice, relaxing date night under the stars and above the dead.*
*Not really on top of the dead. We sit on an open grass area next to the mausoleum.
"Going to the cinema is like returning to the womb; you sit there, still and meditative in the darkness, waiting for life to appear on the screen." - Federico Fellini
