Last night's concert was quite nice.
Teitur was the opening act, and a replacement opening act, at that. I felt a little sad for him that only a tiny handful of the large audience knew who he was, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was vastly different from
the show he headlined in March at a tiny LA club filled with Teitur fans.
Last night I couldn't necessarily sing along to his songs because it'd end up being a Teitur/Nanette duet in the quiet concert hall. So I just enjoyed his beautiful harmonies.

Brent and I stuck around to catch a few songs from the headliner,
KT Tunstall. We only know a couple of her songs, and while we enjoyed what we saw and heard, we didn't feel compelled to stay for her entire performance. Our feet were hurting and it was getting hot inside the venue.

On our way out, I spotted Teitur! I stopped Brent and then asked Teitur for a picture. I mentioned that I was the one who had emailed him via MySpace and he seemed to remember me. He thanked me for coming out to the show. I was tempted to tell him that I sat in an hour of traffic to come see him, but I was already babbling as it was. I was also tempted to invite him to come live in our guest room and pay him for private concerts with scones and homemade jam, but the words just wouldn't come out.
I'm a happy little concert goer, if you hadn't already guessed.

Brent's finger was on the flash, but Teitur's music is mysterious and goes with the whole shadowy mystique.
"Who is to say who wins or who loses? I sing to myself at the end of the day when I know what the blues is. And all my mistakes have become masterpieces." - All my mistakes, Teitur
that is so cool you got to meet him and take a picture! you are beaming, btw ;)
ReplyDeletethat's awesome that you ran into him like that! i've never heard of him before, but i'm definitely going to check him out. i love getting tips on the new and "not-so-heard-of" artists.

ReplyDeleteExcellent. Happy for you that you got to go!
ReplyDeleteHow do you always get so lucky and get to meet the band? Maroon 5, Gavin and Sgt. Boone and now Teitur. I'm a little jealous. Sounds like you had a lot of good times at all your concerts this week!
ReplyDeleteLOL re "shadowy mystique." Nice.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to try and keep up the concert-going good luck/good times and get tickets for John Mayer's charity extravaganza concert next month? You have to go for all us non-west coast people who want to be there. :)
ReplyDeleteI am SOOOO out of touch with current music, but I LOVE KT Tunstall. That is probably the only current music in my ipod (is Gwen Stefani still current? I hope so) I have never heard of Teitur. But sure sounds like you had a blast, jess
ReplyDeleteWendy - Why, yes, I am going to get tix for John's fabulous show next month. Hopefully it'll all work out, and by some divine intervention I'll get to meet him. Ah, a girl can dream...
ReplyDeleteWow that's awesome, three concerts in one week! I love KT's music and I'll have to check out Teitur! Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteI love that photo... it is PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun! (How do you pronounce his name?) It's crazy how hot it gets inside Avalon. Especially if you sit in the balcony!
ReplyDeletegosh Nanette i didn't know you were such a groupie! hahaha just kidding :)
ReplyDeleteI miss concerts. Keep it up, Nanette! I'll live vicariously through you. :)
ReplyDeleteooooh! fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool you got a picture with him. Do you think Brent's finger was "accidentally" covering the flash ;)
