Today I tried not one but TWO restaurants participating in DineLA. The first was lunch with my in-laws at Border Grill in Santa Monica. One word to describe the experience: eh. The company was fun -- never a dull moment with my in-laws -- but the food was nothing to write home about. They also brought out our entrees before our starters, so that threw things off a bit. Take a look at the pics and the corresponding key below, but So. Cal folks - don't go out of your way to actually try some.

Tonight Hilary, justJENN, Jami and I had dinner at Simon LA. This meal was much better than my lunch.

I got a kick out of the baking-centric conversations because the three girls are my baking inspirations. They all make fabulously tasty treats. Jenn even brought us some of her goodies. Let's do it again soon, gals!

Based on your earlier mention, I tried going to the DineLA website and figuring out if I could participate. I guess I'm retarded because I couldn't figure it out! Maybe the site knows I'm not really a foodie. ;-)
I've always wanted to go to Border Grill, but maybe it's not so special. I've never heard of Simon LA, but I like the name.

your dinner fare does appear more appetizing while your starter for lunch looks like it could have come out of a bag of frozen empanadas you buy at costco.
i tried a bite of rabbit ravioli this weekend ... for the record, i'll never do that ever again.

Ohhh those desserts look so yummy!! You need to come to NOLA and try out some of the resturants here and see how they fair with the So. Cal ones.

we went to border grill a few months back and enjoyed our meal, but it wasn't crazy good or anything. jim was a big fan of their salsas though.

I've been watching Celebrity Rehab. Yes, Dr. Drew is a hottie and holy smokes - that TAXI guy is absolutely horrible. He is a total mess. Sad.
you should do a food blog, the picks are yummy i want to lick the screen! I haven't seen celeb rehab! There are so many shows on I can't keep up!
I totally heart Dr. Drew. He is amazing on CELEB REHAB and those arms? Even detoxing Jeff Conaway noticed those guns!!!

I enjoyed Simon in Vegas. And I thought the blonde woman working the Dr Drew rehab place was kinda cute (like the glasses) until she started talking.
