I drink your Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers! I drink them up!*
| *That may only be slightly amusing to you if you've seen There Will Be Blood. Friday night we hung out with Josh, Jami and the kids, which we haven't done in a long time. Those kids are sooo cute and cheerful and edible. I could just gobble them both up! I helped Jami whip up a batch of cupcakes based on justJENN's recent recipe. Saturday Brent and I had breakfast at Jinky's, a breakfast place in Santa Monica. Everyone there was dressed very sporty, like runners, but they weren't all sweaty and I can't imagine they were going to eat big breakfasts and then go for a run. Strange. Oh, if you ever try that place, I highly recommend the crunchy french toast - dipped in Special K before it's fried up. Mmm... We strolled along the Promenade, where I discovered that the sweatshirt I was wearing was way too hot for the 75+ degree whether. Well, hello, Spring. Nice to see ya! Winter, there's the door. Don't let it hit you on the way out. I had to buy a gift for the baby shower I was attending Sunday, so Brent and I went to one of the stores where the mom-to-be is registered. Oh, wow. They make some crazy stuff for babies/kids these days. And strollers? Holy cow. Those bad boys can get pricey, although I could probably lift an empty one with two fingers given how light they are. Brent and I also marveled at a mom-to-be in the store, whose belly was so big that I swore she was carrying a basketball in her belly -- attached to a Harlem Globetrotter! She was HUGE! She didn't seem phased by it, though, even if she was about to give birth to an 8-year-old. That evening we had dinner at Baby Blues BBQ, then swung by the 99 Cent store to people-watch and see what bizarre goodies we could find. Brent got some matzo and I picked up some of these: I love Whoppers. I love strawberry. I love milkshakes. And for 99 cents, what did I have to lose? Well, I've only tried a few, but they weren't nearly as freakish as one might expect. I won't necessarily stock up on them because that could be dangerous, but I'll certainly enjoy this box.Today, as previously mentioned, I attended two showers. The first was a bridal shower for my friend Angie, held at the Scarlett Tea Room in Pasadena. The bride-to-be looked STUNNING in a gorgeous yellow party dress. Her friends and family are all so sweet. And the tea and food were delicious! (Sadly I have no pics of people, just the food.) ![]() I left the shower a little early to head back to West LA for a baby shower for my friend, C. Although my time there was a little short, I had a nice time and met some lovely ladies. (Hi Becky and Aubrey!) And of course, the mom-to-be looked fabulous! I came home to find Brent's car, but no Brent. And instead of an "I'm at the beach" note, I found this lovely treasure: ![]() "Anyone who uses the phrase 'easy as taking candy from a baby' has never tried taking candy from a baby." - Anonymous Labels: Brent, candy, friends, restaurants, shower |

post a commentSo, we had The Same Weekend! Friday night, we went to Baby Blues BBQ and on Saturday, I spent The Day at The Promenade. You probably didn't see me because I spent most of the time in An Anthropolgie Dressing Room.
xoxo,
TDR
Strawberry milkshake whoppers?! Wow!
And, the note from Brent is too funny!
That comic is too cute. The food looks delish! Sounds like a great weekend.
Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers sound yummy.
I think our husbands would get along. That's totally something Brad would do :)
love jinky's.
love whoppers, strawberry sounds good. malted anything is good.
love brent's cartoon. too cute.
Brent is too cute.
mmm...those whoppers sound so good! i love brent's note. haha. :)
75 degrees? The beach?
I hate you.
Wasn't it so lovely out this weekend? I spent all of Saturday in a coastal town hitting all of the boutiques and thrifts stores. Oh, and I didn't even need sleeves on my shirt because it was so warm. :)
There's a brand new baby in my family, so I've been looking at all sorts of baby crap. Luckily, they're trying to go the organic-not-plastic-and-not-made-in-China route, so I feel good about the stuff I've been getting them. (Unfortunately, baby stuff is really spendy. I bought them a car seat and alone it was $200+. I guess safety has a price tag. But it's been fun.)
One of our secretary's had some of those strawberry Whoppers on her desk some time back. so awesome!
Matzo? Why on earth would anyone eat matzo unless they were at a Passover seder?
And ohmygod, those shower treats are sooooo cute!
Holy crap - the food at that shower looks amazing! How cute.
And I love that he labeled everything in the picture... although the used condom was a little scary. :-)
isn't this weather just insane?! i was in a tshirt and capris on saturday and still felt over-dressed. crazy, i tell you!
the drawing is sadly just a little red X, but i'll look when i get home :)
Thanks again for coming to the tea, NannersP! I can't wait to have the girls over for some yummy fondue soon . . . mmmm! Thanks again : )
xo Angie
Your husband is adorable.
I am now also inspired to make Valentine's Day cupcakes. Woohoo!
<3 Brent's drawing oh so much!
that's the cutest note/ drawing ever! awww, how fun
"the sweatshirt I was wearing was way too hot for the 75+ degree ..." rub it in, whydontcha? ;) it's nice to know that it is warm and sunny somewhere ... 10" of snow and -4c here today ... you could wear 3 sweatshirts and still be cold!
Aw you were in my neck of the woods! I just saw the Scarlet Tea Room on Saturday, I live in Pasadena and had never heard of it. But glad it got your stamp of approval, I'm curious to check it out.
And I love the beach note, so funny.
The note may very well be the best thing from your weekend. ;)
love the note!! thats so blogworthy (and i'm sure you thought that as soon as you saw it)
that drawing was too cute! sounds like you had a busy weekend!
Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers? Those look suspect. I don't know about those....cute pic from the hubby!!
I tried the Whoppers! They were good, not great. I love Valentine's Day only for the seasonal candy. Nannette, YGM??
ohhhhhhhhhhh goddddddddddddd, the beach??? this rips my heart right out. it's like, seriously, 40 below here.
I totally LOL'd at hubs drawing.
No wonder you fell in love with him.
Its awesome.
i can't wait till you girls start having babies. let's see what kind of stuff you let yourself get suckered into buying ;)
i've had those whoppers. a little weird, i thought, but not bad!
and, i love scarlet tea room. i'm hoping to get there this week with my cousin!
I haven't seen that movie...but I want a Strawberry milkshake now. And, as I sit in sub zero temps, I am so jealous of anyone going to the beach...:(
Oh my gosh, how cute is your husband and that picture he drew?! I love it! Also, those little gift cakes are so pretty!
Oh my goodness. There is so much AWESOME in this post that I don't even know where to begin to comment.
From the post title, I thought Burger King was making some nasty concoction combining their strawberry milkshakes & Whoppers. Phew!
I, too, am rather fond of Scarlet Tea Room.
Your hubs is hilarious. :) Awesome note.
I love that BBQ place -- this weekend was the first time I could drag my fiancee, after seeing the place featured on Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins.
So much to comment on...most importantly though - that french toast sounds totally incredibly and Brent's note is so super cute. You almost need to frame it :) So funny!
I'm so jealous that you are enjoying spring weather already!! It's freezing here, but there's no snow, so I can't complain too much.
A+ for your hubby's drawing!
I love it Nanette! Thanks so much for the blog shout out -- awesome meeting you, and can't wait to compare more restaurant reviews. Your hubby's drawing is darling!
xo
Becky
what a fun note to come home to!!
