Crazy 8s

Em turned 8 months old on Friday! Ya know what that means -- our monthly photo shoot!

Like last month, we had a difficult time getting her to remain still for photos, but we managed to get a couple.

8 months

We had to keep replacing the blocks as she lunged for them. I nearly lost a hand at one point.
Attack Em

Truth be told, that above "growl" face happened in transition from her serious look to a big, gummy smile. Brent just caught it while it looked maniacal.

She couldn't keep her hands off the blocks, so we gave her all of them. That made her happy.

We ended the shoot with a special request from Brent for his favorite hair trick. Check out Emo Em.

Seriously, she's 8 months?

Blows. My. Mind.

And I thought having a baby would make it easier to determine the ages of other babies. Nope. Our baby is, for lack of a better words, gigantor. Babies, surprisingly, come in all shapes and sizes no matter their age.

While most of her wardrobe is in the 9-month range, tonight she's wearing 12-month pjs. Today at lunch a couple who proclaimed themselves as great guessers tried to guess Em's age. "10 months!" said the husband. "No!" said the wife. "Older!" I laughed and told them the answer.

I met a 10-month-old baby at Target today. She was about the size of Em at 6 months.

Brent and I love Em's largeness. We adore every pudgy piece of her, frequently feasting on her croissant-like arms. In her red sweat pants, she's like a mini Santa Claus, a baby belly like a bowl full of jelly. Em is cuddly and robust and all ours.

  3. I got nothing but love for the gigantor babies, seeing as I have one myself! And that open-mouth maniacal face? Rowan totally does that, too, when going in for a grin. Man, they grow up fast, don't they?

  20. She's adorable, Nanette! I can't believe she's 8 months. Seems like you just had her. She'll be walking before you know it and then you'll REALLY have your hands full! =)

  22. Ha! We did monthly photos with Riley laying next to a stuffed monkey that was his a bit bigger than him at one month. It was easy for about seven months, but the last few you can see hands keeping him from rolling over or he has a bottle - only way to get him to hold still for the shoot!
