Don't be tardy for the party

I'd say Em's first birthday party was a (cake) smashing success!

There was lots of food. My mother-in-law's homemade mac n cheese and my mom's homemade lumpia were big hits.

There were tasty, tasty cupcakes from JustJenn, as well as homemade sangria, lemonade and water. (Well, the water was store-bought.)
drinks

There were umbrellas and a canopy to keep guests cool, and lots of tissue poms just for fun.
Canopy & tables

There was an overly ambitious butterfly mobile, which I worked on for days. Don't know if anyone noticed, though, as it was kind of high in the canopy but I still thought it was cute. Thinking it might make it into Em's room after some finishing touches.

We also had a Wall O' Em Dash, featuring pics from her first year.

Of course, there were lots o' babies. Ten of them, to be exact.

They partied hard.

And there was the birthday girl herself, sporting a brown tutu, birthday girl shirt and birthday bib. (Gotta love Gymboree!)

There were grandmas.

We also had our pal Winnie, the budding photographer, who captured the following amazing shots for us.

And what party would be complete without cake for the birthday girl?
Cake

Em DEFINITELY has her mommy's sweet tooth. She dove right in.

Mmmm

Sweet hands

More, please

We had to pry it from her tiny sticky hands. (Cake-smashing video coming soon.)
NOM NOM NOM

We had such a fun time celebrating Em's big day with so many great friends and family.

Just when we thought our sweet girl couldn't get any sweeter...
The 3 of us

Jim: [grunts] Okay, so far, our ideal party consists of beer, fights to the death, cupcakes, blood pudding, blood, touch football, mating, charades, and yes, horse hunting.
Dwight: You're right, forget horse hunting. It's stupid.

  6. Am I correct you got "don't be tardy for the party" from Real Housewives or am I the only trash TV lover?? :-) The party looks FABULOUS! I see soooo many ideas I might have to "borrow" for Jenna's 1st bday party (yes, I know I am getting ahead of myself as she is only a month old). hahaha!

  18. What no picture of me changing Lei's diaper?

That was the first time I have ever had lumpia and it was yummy. I think ate half the container.

The bday decor was absolutely cute and adorable. I'm sad that I didn't notice the mobile. I'm sure it was beautiful in person.
