My 2010 to-do list

I don't have resolutions this year.

I have a to-do list.

It's stuff I want NEED to get done. Some of the list includes fairly simple tasks. Some of the items are going to require daily motivation and perseverance, but I'm confident that my list is realistic.

- Schedule solo date nights with Brent
- Find a babysitter for the above date nights
- Explore more of LA with Em
- Travel somewhere fun with Em and Brent - a REAL vacation
- Take more "me" time, particularly for pampering
- Prepare our will - long overdue
- Pull together our disaster preparedness kit - also long overdue

- Cook something from a recipe once a week
- Get healthy. Lose a BUNCH of weight. Won't go into specific numbers here, but it's A LOT.
- Successfully complete the Couch to 5K running program
- Cut back, and hopefully cut out, soda

- Continue getting results, and make the next three months of my contract rock
- Make the results of all my hard work evident

- Blog more. I'm also going to allow anonymous comments again, but I reserve the right to turn them off if spammers or trolls rear their ugly heads
- Comment more on others' blogs
- Manage my Google Reader better and keep up with more of the blogs I follow
- Limit my use of emoticons. I rely on smilies way too much.

- Start carrying my point-and-shoot with me all the time
- Read my camera manual and revisit all the awesome photography advice I've received so I can take better pics
- Make sure Em's modeling agent always has up-to-date pics of Em
- Keep at least one memory card for our camera empty at all times
- Keep plenty of space on our Flip (video) cam available
- Project 365 - A lot of folks take a stab at this by taking a photo every day for an entire year. I'm trying it this year, with Em as my subject. Maybe I'll post them in batches of five? They'll also be in a set on Flickr, if you're a friend of mine there.

  1. 1. Like the new masthead! (Wouldn't have seen it had I not clicked thru to comment.)

    2. Am interested in trying the Couch-to-5K program. Quite honestly, I can barely run for two minutes in a row. I am a pathetic runner. But committing to 3x weekly workouts, which seem manageable, could help with the getting-in-shape goal (mine, not yours. :-)

    3. Em is so cute.

    how will you manage that google reader?
    you're in mine right now and i don't know where to put you! what category do you want to be in?

  4. Good goals! I'm about to modify my massive to-do list. It's part of my get organized goal.

    I've taken photos of Charlie every day since he was born. That was my goal for the first year. I did miss one day, but that was for good reason.

  5. I want to do the Couch to 5K training program too. I started it this summer but then we went on vacation and I went back to NOLA and I didn't keep up with it. You can download the program to your ipod for free from itunes.

    I have to wait for Spring to start again since its arctic cold here, but I'm doing the 30 Day Shred this month so kick start something. Don't have to leave my house for that! I'm with you on the lose tons of weight and I need to start taking more pics too...and learn how to properly use my good camera.

    I cut out soda about 10 years ago...only drink it once in a great great while now. I prefer water, with a little cranberry juice mixed in and a lime.

    Em is so stinkin' cute. Has she done any work yet? Jimmy is dog sitting for his room mate while she goes to Australia for 6 months for a photo shoot. Part of that includes taking the dog on auditions! Only in L.A.!

    Hope to meet you this spring when we come out!

    I think for your "REAL" vacation you all should come to DC and visit me, and meet Madison :-) Oh and all the great museums and fun stuff to do out here as well.

  7. Just wanted to add the the ipod training program tells you when to start and stop running/walking so you don't have to worry about timing yourself and looking at your watch. It's really cool.

  10. Couch 2 5K is such a good program. Also, you reminded me to get our wills done! Just got the life insurance thing crossed off our list.

  12. Em's dress/boots combo is TOO freaking cute! And the girl is getting so much hair, I love it. Maddie is jealous, with her old man mullet.

    Love the new look on here! and your "Limit my use of emoticons" goal is so perfect. It's such a habit to throw in if you don't have anything else to say and are trying not to be awkward, haha... (trying really hard not to use one)

  13. As creepy as it sounds, we are pretty much on the exact same page for 2010! I'm currently doing WW & the Couch to 5k program.

    I started project 365 too! Great idea to do postings of them in a batch post!

    i don't make new year's resolutions, only because i don't like to disappoint myself. i do set goals, though, and for some odd reason the different term makes it doable.

    i'm weird.

  16. Good list. The soda one is easy. I stopped buying it Freshman year of college and it just stuck. Now when me or my husband order it, as a treat, we can only drink half a cup. Tastes like candy!

    And I'm with you on the emoticons. I hate myself for it. Makes me think of that Jason Mraz song.
