Sumptuous Spago

Yesterday was a big birthday for my mother-in-law, so it was only right to celebrate in style!

Her sister and brother-in-law made the trip down from Northern California. We joined them all, along with my in-laws' friends at Spago.

Last time Brent and I ate at Spago, Larry King was eating there, too. Early in last night's meal I looked behind us and laughed when I saw Larry King AGAIN. My father-in-law eventually spotted him, too, and saw that he was dining with Robert Shapiro, whom he worked with years ago.

At one point my father-in-law disappeared to go say hello. I snapped this sly pic.

Onto the food! Sorry that the pics are a bit blurry. And the lighting. And the cropping. Blah, blah, blah...

My appetizer - Pumpkin agnolotti with brown butter. This was my favorite dish of the night.

Desserts. Brent and I shared a brown butter cake and an affelstrudel.

Everything was delicious, as to be expected, but by the time desserts came around, I was busting at the seams. I tried to talk Brent into splitting dishes with me from the start, but he was all, "NO! It's NOM NOM GOOD! NO SHARE!"

Can't really blame the guy.

  1. Food is meant to be shared!

    Specifically, traded halfway!

  3. I agree that food is meant to be shared but I have definitely been known to not want to share my dinner (when it is especially good).

    I always split dessert though!

  4. oh man that all looks so yummy! and love the celeb sightings, so fun :)

  5. Food is meant to be shared, as long as I get the bigger half.

Hehe, I kid. I LOVE duck. Your dish makes me hungry again.
