On some of my previous Steppin' Outs, a couple of you had mentioned how sweet it was that I dressed me & Em alike. That was not planned, I swear. Pure coincidence. I even thought about that as I chose our outfits for the party. I got Em dressed, and then I went to find a casual black dress in my closet.
I couldn't find the dress I wanted, and time was ticking so I threw on the shirt you see on me below. As we posed for our quick picture, I realized what I'd done. We both even have little pink rosettes on our collars. Oops. Well, if nothing else, perhaps it'd diminish the chances of folks thinking I was the nanny, which happens more often than you'd think.
Top & jeans, Old Navy
Shoes, TOMS wedges
Necklace, Stella & Dot
Dress, H&M (a gift from Aunt Winnie)
Sandals, (hidden under the dress), Target
Clip, Butterfly clip from No Slippy Hair Clippy
Cheek accessory, a big ol' wedge of Babybel Cheese that she shoved in her mouth as we headed out
I'm now on a quest to spice up my wardrobe and think beyond the t-shirt & jeans. I could at least go for some cute blouses. Sheesh.
Anyhow, Heather & Mike pulled together a great shindig for their sweet Annie. The birthday gal (and her mama) obviously had a great time.
Em loved leaving a birthday
scribble message for Annie.
Here Brent fulfills Em's requests to draw Yo Gabba Gabba characters. I love her little arm resting on his leg.
She was also enamored by the musical playlist Heather created, which included a ton of Yo Gabba Gabba songs. Everyone who tried to chat with Em at the party was met with an earful of, "It's GABBA songs!"
While all the older kids went nuts over the bounce house, it took lots of convincing before Em got in and enjoyed it herself. She started off in a safe little corner of the bounce house.
Then she ventured out and was climbing and jumping with the rest of them. Here she is with Matt Logelin's cute little Maddy.
We were finally able to coax Em out of the bounce house with a cupcake offering, which was so memorable that Em continues to talk about it today. "I had the cupcake. Was on my face!"
Happy birthday, Annie! We were honored to be there to celebrate with you!
